The MK7.5 Saga: It's Turbo Time!!
Greetings BMPers! I know I am a little behind on updating the build. We've been fairly busy here with Black Friday and Holiday sales going on, and now that we are doing installations here, there are lots of cool cars coming in and out of the shop. My ultimate goal with this car was to go Stage 2 + IS38. I needed a downpipe and an IS38 turbo before we could upgrade the tune.

After driving the GTI for a few months, the factory exhaust just wasn't cutting it. I wanted something that had a deeper growl to it and sounded nice without being overly annoying. A common misconception in the car scene is that loud equals good.

The MK7.5 Saga: Lighting
One of the first things I noticed while driving the GTI at night was just how badly the halogen headlights suck. The lighting was not good at all and the halogens look out of place on the MK7.5. Luckily BMP Tuning has the Illuminator headlights and I was able to get mine during a restock. I went with the red line headlights to match my grill. I cannot express how much these changed the front of the car.
The MK7.5 Saga: New Wheels
Now that the car is lowered, it's time to begin looking for new wheels. When I began my search, I knew I wanted 19" wheels and something lighter. So immediately Rotiform was out of the picture. Which is fine because I don't really care for their wheel lineup. I began looking at Konig, Motegi, and Enkei for lightweight wheels. I didn't really care for their selections either. I started looking at other brands and I finally found the wheels I wanted.
The MK7.5 Saga: Suspension Stage 1
If you look at my previous builds, you'll notice I love air suspension. It's the minitrucker in me that wants to slam everything to the ground. When it came to this build, I did a lot of thinking and debating on what to do on the suspension. Immediately I wanted air ride, but with the multiple price increases from Air Lift in the last 2 years, air suspension has gone up quite a bit. What used to cost $3-3.5K for a full air suspension setup is now closer to $4.5K. I couldn't talk myself into dropping that much on suspension. I also wanted this build to be more performance focused. "BuT zEb YoU cAn TrAcK a CaR wItH aIr SuSpEnSiOn!" Yeah, I know. You can also track a car with stock suspension, but sometimes there are better options. I finally decided to go with a nice set of coilovers.
The MK7.5 Saga: Stage 1 Tuning
Well, that escalated quickly. On Day 3 of ownership we loaded a Stage 1 Tune from Integrated Engineering. Since I have a 6-speed and not a DSG, we loaded the low torque Stage 1 93 octane tune since I haven't upgraded my clutch at this time.
The MK7.5 Saga: First Mods
Well that didn't take long. The car arrived and the next day we were already installing parts on it. I don't like keeping a vehicle stock for long. Stock is boring.
First, we had to make it official by throwing on a BMP Tuning banner.
The MK7.5 Saga: Introduction
When I started at BMP Tuning I was building the 4Runner. The 14 MPG of the 4Runner wasn't great and there were some other personal factors that made me decide to get rid of it. I wanted something with better MPG, but was still fun to drive. I have always wanted either a GTI or R, so I began looking and found one local.
It's a 2019 MK7.5 GTI S with 6-speed in White Silver with 20k miles on it. I test drove it, signed the paperwork and they delivered it the next day to BMP Tuning.
