Does the WCT Performance Pedal Spacer work on RHD (right hand drive) MK7 models?
Yes, the WCT Performance Pedal Spacer is compativle with both LHD (left hand drive) and RHD (right hand drive) MK7 models.
Description
Many MK7/MK7.5/MK8 Golf/GTI/R drivers have complained about pedal spacing in these cars as how hard it is to heel/toe. Being MT drivers ourself, we have explored many options on the market including pedal extensions and have yet to find a solution that we liked. Hence we have designed this pedal spacer.
Here at WCT Performance we have gone through multiple revisions of this spacer and it has undergone extensive on road and track testing before we settled on its final dimensions. We have had a group of testers that carried out testing in the past several months and we have received nothing but positive feedback regarding this product.
Our pedal spacer slots between the gas pedal assembly and the bracket and cleverly utilize the stock mounting points for a painless installation. The result is an approximately 0.5" raise in the gas pedal height. In our testing, we find this height to be optimal for heel toeing under various conditions. All testers reported seamless transition from brake to throttle and much better reach from the brake to gas pedal.

A heel toe necessity for manual gearbox’s
I have this spacer installed on both my MK7 and MK8 GTI’s.
The forgotten mod.
I've had this part installed probably 1 month after owing my car. I compare it to a set of insoles to a pair shoes. It is a game changer that you won't think about until you are reminded about it. For the price it's essential for a 6MT Gti or any other mqb chassis vehicle. The installation is pre-school level. It complements any clutch and/or shifter mod. Since you the driver are the living TCU, its makes sense to optimize how you get down in-between the gears.
Best mod to date
For the shorties on a 6MT, the extra 1/2" raise is an absolute game changer. I'm 5'2" and wear a size 5 men's shoe, and heel-toe downshifts were impossible on stock pedals and spacing...literally would heel into the abyss (forget rolling the ankle for side foot blips). With some practice and resetting my muscle memory, heel-toe is within reach. I can't tell you how much better upshifting feels... it's like night and day. Just try it.
Great mod even for DSG (MK7.5R)
I noticed how far down the gas pedal is compare to the brake pedal when my right foot hit the side of brake pedal when I went to brake a few times. I thought this is unnatural given I've driven the car long enough to get used to it. Ideally, I would've like to lower the brake pedal height, but this was a good (and probably the only) alternative. Took a few days getting used to it, but my right foot moves btwn the gas and brake pedal lot more smoothly and naturally. It's a small difference when measured in inches, but makes a pretty big difference in driveability, in my case, safety as well.
Nice little mod
Just installed this last week and have since taken about two test drives in my car. Overall, I do like how there's just that slight bit less travel required from your foot in order to induce the throttle, so it makes you feel like you've done something to the software to make throttle response sharper. Seriously, the first time you go to launch you'll notice that what your muscle memory stored as an easy takeoff is now more aggressive. I like this! In terms of heel & toe, while I do feel like this helps somewhat, I still think the car would still benefit from a physically wider throttle pedal. I wish someone simply made a slip-on cover (GTI pedals actually are slipped-on to the standard Golf pedal) that was wider on the left side. The combination of a wider pedal, plus this mod would be pretty spot-on! In terms of installation, the only really tricky bit was trying to hold the carpet back with one hand while loosening/tightening that T30 with the other. Just a small area to work in, but other than that, pretty straightforward.
