Save your early 058 1.8T 20V engine from risking a complete failure due to a faulty stock hydraulic tensioner. Upgrading your timing system with our IE Manual Timing Belt Tensioner Kit removes the factory weak link and replaces it with a solid and reliable manual tensioner setup.
All 058 1.8T 20V engines are factory equipped with a hydraulic style timing belt tensioner. This hydraulic tensioner has a gas-charged piston that provides tension on the tensioner roller, designed to increase/decrease tension automatically. Unfortunately, this design has been a constant source of complete timing failure and one of the weakest links on the 1.8T platform. The piston arm on the tensioner is sealed with an under-spec o ring that commonly wears out, cracks, rots, or leaks leading to the instant discharge of the hydraulic fluid resulting in complete engine failure. Many of the available non-OE tensioners worsen this issue further with cheaper components, lack of quality control, bad tolerances, and awful surface imperfections that further lead to rapid degradation of the hydraulic o ring.
The IE Manual Timing Tensioner Kit is designed to give you timing confidence by completely replacing the 1.8T timing belt tension system with performance-minded parts. This two-part timing solution includes a new in-house CNC machined aluminum idler bracket that replaces the hydraulic piston assembly. The auto-adjusting tensioner is then replaced with a traditional style manual tensioner. This tensioner is set to proper timing belt tension and tightened securely into place. This setup is proven on many street and race applications and is used by VW/Audi 2.0T FSI successors after the 1.8T engine was discontinued.
The IE manual timing belt tensioner is a much more reliable timing upgrade over the stock hydraulic setup, however, this is a performance timing setup designed for performance engines and requires maintenance to ensure proper long-term operation of your timing system. Timing belts tend to "stretch-in" after installation, IE recommends you check your belt tension often (every oil change) and adjust if necessary. Timing belts may also increase/decrease in size minimally during seasonal temperature changes, always check tension and adjust as necessary during heavy temperature fluctuations.

*IE 058 Manual Timing Belt Tensioner Kits are designed for use on 058 (AEB engine code) engine blocks only, they are not compatible with all late model 06A engine blocks equipped with internal water pumps. If your engine does not have an external water pump and internal balance shaft, you need an IE 06A Manual Timing Belt Tensioner Kit.
NOTE: IE 06A Manual Timing Belt Kits are engine block specific, not cylinder head specific. If you have an early 058 AEB large port cylinder head installed on your late 06A engine, the 06A Manual Timing Belt Tensioner Kit is still required.

***ORDER CANCELLATIONS***
All order cancellations are processed during regular business hours only. Any order cancellation requests made outside of business hours will be processed during the next business day.
Any cancelled orders including orders that have not shipped will be subject to a 3.5% cancellation fee to offset order processing fees that are not refunded to BMP Tuning. Additionally, if your order has already shipped, you may incur additional fees if the shipment needs to be recalled and/or rerouted back to BMP Tuning.
Some products sold cannot be cancelled after the order has been placed due to agreements with the manufacturer, or in the case of made to order/custom items. This will be noted in the product description.
Please note: Cancellations made after hours, on the weekend, or on a holiday may not be processed for cancellation prior to the order being processed and shipped.
***RETURNS AND EXCHANGES***
BMP Tuning will accept returns for UNUSED merchandise in original packaging within 1 YEAR from the time of purchase!
UNUSED products in ORIGINAL PACKAGING that are RETURNED WITHIN 60 DAYS of purchase are eligible for a refund to the original payment method used.
UNUSED products in ORIGINAL PACKAGING returned PAST THE 60 DAY MARK and within the 1 year return period are eligible for store credit only. After 60 days, non-stocked items will be accepted at the discretion of BMP Tuning.
UNUSED products MUST BE IN ORIGINAL PACKAGING, containing all accessories, labels, and documentation.
**CUSTOMERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ORIGINAL AND RETURN*** ***SHIPPING EXPENSES**
The customer is responsible for the return shipping costs/fees – original shipping fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and items shipped with FREE shipping will still be subject to actual shipping charges being NON-REFUNDABLE. BMP Tuning is not responsible for damage to items being returned to us by the shipping carrier and will contact you so that you can file a claim if an item arrives damaged.
Any returned item is subject to a fee of up to 15%.
Restocking fees are WAIVED in the event of a customer receiving a damaged / incorrect product.
KATAPULT: Katapult does not allow us to issue partial refunds. Katapult orders that are cancelled prior to fulfilment will be refunded 100% directly through Katapult. For Returns: Any Katapult purchases that require a partial refund will be given back to the customer as a store credit. No restocking fees will be deducted. However, the original shipping costs on the order will be deducted and the customer will also be responsible for the shipping costs to return item(s) to BMP Tuning.

If you need to return an item that does not fit your vehicle and you feel that there is an error in our listing, please contact us immediately. If we find an error on our website or on behalf of a BMP Tuning Representative, we will provide a shipping label for your return and arrange proper shipment of the correct items.
ALL PRODUCTS MUST STILL BE NEW CONDITION IN THE ORIGINAL BOXES, INCLUDING LABELING, HARDWARE, AND DOCUMENTATION.
Customers are responsible for checking the product description for applications prior to ordering anything from our site to verify that the items you have selected are appropriate for your vehicle. Items ordered that are listed correctly on our website but ordered in error WILL REQUIRE SHIPPING TO BE PAID BY THE CUSTOMER.
***DAMAGED/MISSING ITEMS IN SHIPMENT***
If you receive a package that is missing items or was damaged during shipment, please contact BMP Tuning WITHIN 10 DAYS OF DELIVERY. Please check all items as they are delivered! Be sure to keep all packing material, boxes and photos of the damage as this will be necessary to complete the damage claim with the specific courier. UPS/FED EX Typically take 8-15 business days to complete their investigation, however, this time frame could be extended depending on circumstances.
